When the Pastor Is Your Husband: The Joy and Pain of Ministry Wives

July 9, 2015 by Bryan Miller

Unrealistic expectations, feelings of inadequacy, guarded friendships, a fishbowl existence, loneliness. These difficulties can be more tenable when one examines frustrations and puts them into an eternal frame of reference. In this resource, Alder relays advice mined from the experience of thousands to bring real-life stories and heartfelt encouragement to those considering, anticipating, and engaged in life as ministry wives. This book reveals down-to-earth encouragement for the ministry wife’s everyday life. (BOOK)

When Work Doesn’’t Work Anymore: Women, Work, and Identity

July 9, 2015 by Bryan Miller

For decades, women have succeeded at traditional male jobs, but now, deep in the second stage of the feminist movement, they want lives that are integrated and whole. Based on original research and containing hundreds of interviews with prominent working women, this book exposes the inherent conflict between the way work traditionally is structured and rewarded, and what women desire and value in their lives. More important, it suggests new ways for women to identify their values, reclaim their identities, and define success on their own terms. McKenna deconstructs the myth that women can have it all, and shows that they risk true happiness until they give up that impossible ideal. The author’s focus extends to every working woman who will most likely face a life-altering situation at some point in her career and will need to redefine success. (BOOK)

What Color Is Your Parachute? 2013: A Guide for Job-Seekers and Career-Changers

July 9, 2015 by Bryan Miller

In order to tailor his authoritative guide to the current job- market, Bolles not only updates the book each year, but he also reconceives it, reinvents it, and rewrites it, so that one year’s edition is often vastly different from the year before. This is the case with the 2013 edition. Inventions in the book this year include a brand-new transferable skills grid, a novel way to discover what fields you would most like to work in, and a revamped version of his famed self-inventory instrument, the Flower Exercise. With fresh insights into resumes, networking, interviewing, salary negotiation, entrepreneurship, and social media, this resource has everything you need to dust off your motivation and find your dream job. The Mystery of Choice: Discerning the Call of God

July 9, 2015 by Bryan Miller

According to Brother Bisson, œVocation, a soul invitation, is to live in alignment with God’s will. This is living in the spirit of discernment and listening to a deeper Voice than the ego . This workshop examines the art of deep listening and helps to summon the courage necessary to incarnate the invitation. (3 CDs)

The Emotionally Healthy Church: A Strategy for Discipleship that Actually Changes Lives

July 9, 2015 by Bryan Miller

As Scazzero discovered in his church—New Life Fellowship in Queens—lots of activity doesn’t guarantee spiritual health. In this expanded edition, he takes a deeper look at six principles that establish strong personal relationships and a sense of community, and adds a seventh—how contemplative devotion can lead to spiritual and emotional well-being. Scazzero shares refreshing new insights and a different and challenging slant on what it takes to lead your congregation to wholeness and maturity in Christ. (BOOK)
