Invisible Heroes: Survivors of Trauma and How They Heal

July 9, 2015 by Bryan Miller

Traditional psychotherapy is word-base; the patient talks through his or her problems. However, Naparstek questions the verbal techniques used for decades to treat Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or PTSD. Her book draws on over thirty years of clinical experience, the most recent, cutting edge research, and powerful new discoveries in neurophysiology, biochemistry and brain imaging, to synthesize a new understanding of trauma, and why imagery is truly the key to its healing. Filled with the voices of scores of actual survivors and therapists, it offers a spate of imagery know-how, a step-by-step program with more than 20 imagery scripts, tailored to the three stages of recovery, and a practical guide to the best of the new imagery-based therapies, such as EMDR, Prolonged Exposure, Trauma Incident Reduction and Somatic Experiencing. (BOOK) *This resource partners well with Three Stages of Healing Trauma: Nine Meditations (CD – see below)*
