Prayer and Wellness Room
The Prayer and Wellness Room has been created by the Office of Student Counseling and the Chapel Office to provide a sacred, safe space for spiritual formation and nurture of our community. It is our vision that the Prayer and Wellness Room be used for individual and group prayer, meditation, relaxation, and restoration.
The Prayer and Wellness Room will be open when Miller Chapel is open, from approximately 6 am until midnight.
Scheduling and Usage
You may reserve the Prayer and Wellness Room through the Chapel Office in Scheide Hall.
Please check the room reservation sign posted to the right of the door. If the room has not been scheduled, please feel free to use the space.
Unless the room has been reserved, we encourage that the door remain open so that others may use the space as well.
It is our intention that the Prayer and Wellness Room will be an electronic-free space unless you are using the provided computer for HeartMath. (Please see instructions for HeartMath posted above the desk and here.) You are also welcome to use your personal head phones to plug into your own device, or the provided CD player, to access music or meditation resources. Thank you for using other seminary spaces for electronic communications.
Beverages and Food
Please do not bring any food into the Prayer and Wellness Room. You may bring a beverage, but we ask that you take all beverage containers with you.
Coats and Bags
To help keep the space clutter free, we ask that you place coats and bags on the rack provided to the left of the Prayer and Wellness Room.
Due to fire codes, candles may not be used in the Prayer and Wellness Room. A few battery operated candles have been provided for your use.
In the Prayer and Wellness Room we are collecting resources for spiritual reflection and formation. Please feel free to use any of the resources provided.
All adults (over 18) are welcome to use the massage chair. Please review the directions for the chair prior to use. Thank you for being mindful of how long the chair is in use, especially with others in the room. Socks are required when using the chair.
